In 1932, Vincenzo Bonifanti added his own unique twist on the classic Panettone christmas cake in his bakery in the centre of Villafranca, Piedmont. Using the traditional Milanese recipe and his own special white sourdough, he topped his creation with crunchy Lange hazelnut frosting which became an instant local hit.

Since these flavourful beginnings, three generations of the Bonifanti family have continued to combine the great Italian baking traditions with a Piedmonte flair which has seen them receive numerous awards (several 3-stars at the Great Taste Awards).
